Police
The London Police Service support Crime Stoppers by providing a full-time Coordinator to the program who processes the tips to the investigating agency. The coordinator attends events and completes presentations upon request. LPS also provide support to the Coordinator role through a support Sergeant and many other support staff. LPS offers administrative support and allows us to maintain our office space and administrative supplies for our program. This partnership has been in place for 20 years.
The OPP support our Crime Stoppers program by providing a full-time Coordinator to the program. The coordinator role is to process tips to be forwarded to the investigating agency. The coordinator attends events and makes presentations when requested. The Ontario Provincial Police also provide support to the Coordinators by having a support SGT at West Region Headquarters and at General headquarters in Orillia. This partnership has been in place for 20 years. OPP coordinators fulfill many roles on the Board including investigative experience and liaison for event planning and in our communities.
The Strathroy-Caradoc Police provide investigative support and general support in the community. The SCPS investigate our tips and provide feedback for tipsters. The officers assist the program with re-enactments and attend events.
The RCMP provides a representative for support to our program that attends meetings and events and acts as a liaison between Crime Stoppers and the RCMP. Crime Stoppers provide re-enactments for RCMP jurisdiction matters such as the regulation of the Canada Customs and Excise Act. The RCMP provides investigative feedback on tipster information for the program. The RCMP partner with Crime Stoppers on new initiatives such as work on hate crimes, theft of utilities (Ontario Hydro), Ontario Racing Commission, partnership between Totalline Transportation and Canadian Crime Stoppers and RCMP Pipeline Convoy Criminal Interdiction Program.
The First Nations Police from Chippewa of the Thames assist investigations and re-enactments and offer support for the program within their community. Officers from Oneida and Muncee receive tips and offer feedback from tipsters. First Nations police are becoming further involved with our program as it is seen as an avenue to help solve crime.
Thank you to all of our police services for their on-going support to our program. Without of police partnerships, there would be no Crime Stoppers to represent London Elgin and Middlesex.
