Media
Crime Stoppers would not exist in the public sphere without media support. All of our media partners' support is essential. The following outlines just a few of their stories of how commited they are to the safety of their communities.
A-Channel has been a media partner and sponsor with Crime Stoppers for approximately 15 years in the London Elgin Middlesex area. We shoot four film re-enactments with the assistance of a film and production team. These re-enactments are then aired five times weekly. Crime Stoppers is promoted and the Crime of the Week receives the attention of the public it requires to receive to find witnesses who may have information to assist in the investigation. A-Channel's partnership is invaluable to London-Elgin-Middlesex Crime Stoppers! Thank you A-Channel!
“Citywatch”, this region’s own version of “America’s Most Wanted”, returns for a second season with new host Jeremy Parking on Thursday nights at 9:30 p.m. This half-hour program is produced with the assistance of reports from local police, the O.P.P and 4 local Crime Stopper programs covering the counties of St. Thomas, Oxford, Haldimand, Norfolk, Tillsonburg, London, Elgin and Middlesex. Citywatch informs viewers about unsolved crimes and most wanted criminals these areas. Citywatch continues to highlight those most wanted by local police, promotes the Crime Stoppers programs and brings awareness of safety issues to the communities we serve.
We are pleased to announce that Rogers Television’s Citywatch was instrumental in capturing 27 fugitives in southwestern Ontario during its inaugural season (September 2006 - June 2007). Citywatch has also received a prestigious Crime Stoppers award for “Best Special Report/ Feature” and was recognized last summer for this achievement at the annual International Crime Stoppers conference in Bermuda. This shows the power of the partnership between Crime Stoppers, the Media and the Police!
We are proud to have had Rogers as one of our media partners with Crime Stoppers for several years in the London-Elgin-Middlesex area. The value of this Rogers program is priceless! Thank you, Rogers! For further information on the Citywatch program, contact Mr. Joe Brown, Producer, 519-539-8103.
