About Crime of the Week

Crime Stopper’s Crimes of the Week assist us to promote and publicize both our program and our crimes of the week to the public. Each week, an unsolved crime is re-created by our media partners in newspapers, audio commercials and television spots to generate interest and awareness to community members to contact the tips line if they have information that will assist in solving the case. When all of our media partners join together and carry the same crime of the week, it creates a burst effect, allowing further coverage and more tips to our tips line to assist in solving these crimes.

Media & Crime of the Week

Television Re-enactments

Rogers Television films our Crime of the Week to broadcast on their slick television show “City Watch”. London-Elgin-Middlesex Crime Stoppers is one of the many Southwestern Ontario Crime Stoppers programs to contribute to this slick production. Our producer, Joe Brown, his crew, and the fabulous City Watch sponsors make this happen week after exciting week. Tune in to Rogers on Thursdays at 9:30, Friday nights before and after the London Knight’s games and many other times during the week. Look for the “Crime Stoppers Most Wanted” and you could earn a cash reward!

A-Channel films Crime of the Week segments to show during commercial segments.
A-Channel have been our television media partner for over 15 years in this area.
A-Channel’s production and camera team offer their creativity to us as a donation to film one full day every month, plus after filming production. The re-enactments are shown at different times of the week, every week.

Print Media

London Free Press, Parkhill Gazette, Dorchester Signpost, The Banner, The Londoner, Glencoe Transcript, The Village News, The Age Dispatch, Port Stanley News, St Thomas Times Journal, the Chronicle, the Chippewa Mazennigan and the Aylmer Express are all of our newspaper partners that feature local Crimes of the Week for Crime Stoppers.

Often, initial media releases are not made by police services. By carrying these Crime Stopper scripts, news media are often providing the public the most complete descriptions about these crimes. Again, these news reports contribute to the burst effect of the Crime of the Week.
